ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – The First Alert Weather Team has declared Monday, January 6, a First Alert Weather Day due to high confidence in wind chills, or feels-like temperatures, falling below 20º F.
Once storms pass through on Sunday evening, cold air will begin to move in QUICKLY! Just after midnight, feels-like temperatures will begin to dip into the teens and twenties across Cenla.
Sunrise on Monday is when we can expect some of the coolest temperatures. Air temperatures will start off in the mid & upper twenties, with wind chills likely in the mid-upper teens for most across Cenla.
Gusty winds will keep wind chills pretty low throughout the day. It may not be until mid-afternoon that wind chills rise above freezing.
Gusty winds will continue throughout the day and into the evening hours on Monday.
With dangerously cold temperatures expected, don’t forget the 4 P’s! People, pets, plants, and pipes need to be taken care of BEFORE you go to bed on Sunday night!
