DENVER, CO – Freezing fog and snow is expected to impact Colorado travelers Monday morning, with the potential for hazardous road conditions on I-25 and surrounding areas. Morning temperatures will remain in the teens before reaching a high of 43 degrees later in the day.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), dense fog is expected into the early morning hours of Monday, reducing visibility for drivers and causing rough road conditions. Light snowfall may result in minor accumulations, especially in higher elevations, where 1-3 inches of rain is forecast. The NWS also warns drivers to use caution on bridges and overpasses, where ice often forms first.
By Tuesday, temperatures will drop dramatically, with a high of just 29 degrees and a 70% chance of snowfall, making travel even more complicated. Some relief is expected on Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high near 30, but another storm system is looming for the end of the week.
Residents are urged to be prepared for hazardous driving conditions during the morning commute and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles. Officials recommend checking road conditions through CDOT’s online platform before heading out.
This week’s forecast suggests an unstable weather pattern with chances for both snowfall and mild conditions. Highs could reach near 40 degrees on Thursday and Friday, followed by another chance of snow next weekend.
