Cold weather alerts issued ahead of Sunday’s front

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – With the coming cold, the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning and a Cold Weather Advisory for the entire Brazos Valley.

In addition to a possible hard freeze, wind chills nearing the single digits are possible, especially Monday morning.(KBTX)

A Cold Weather Advisory is an all-encompassing new term from the National Weather Service meant to simplify their warning and advisory system. In our case, this is just issued because of a long duration cold spell that will bring harm to those exposed in the outdoors for too long. In other words, the coming cold is now “officially” official.

Take steps Sunday to ready your property, pets, and plants, and check on your neighbors and friends, especially the elderly.

After cold air rolls through Sunday afternoon, we are expecting sub-freezing overnights all the way through at least Thursday morning, with slightly warmer weather by this weekend and into next week.
