Seattle, WA – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 pm Saturday until 10 am Sunday for areas at or above 3,500 feet in the Cascades, including popular mountain passes and ski areas.
The National Weather Service reports that up to 12 inches of snow is expected in the Western Slope North Cascades, North Central Cascades and South Central Cascades, potentially creating dangerous conditions on roads, bridges and overpasses.
Snoqualmie Pass may experience brief freezing rain late Saturday night into Sunday morning, increasing travel risk. Major areas affected include Mount Baker Ski Area, Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain Ski Area and Paradise near Mount Rainier.
Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution and be prepared for possible power outages. Travelers should also check road conditions and closures before heading into the mountains.
