Lexington Park, MD – A 36-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday in St. Mary’s County, leading to the arrest of her ex-husband.
Maryland State Police have identified the victim as Chaquanda Latice Odom of California, Maryland. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene on Liberty Street in Lexington Park.
According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded to reports of shots fired at 11:10 a.m. Friday. They found Odom with multiple gunshot wounds. Shortly afterward, Jason David Pressley, 38, of Lexington Park, surrendered himself at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Pressley is charged with first- and second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
Authorities believe the shooting was caused by a domestic dispute. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation with assistance from forensic teams and local agencies.
