ORANGE COUNTY, IN – Authorities have issued a statewide Blue Alert for 33-year-old Austin Schepers, wanted in connection with the shooting of an Orange County deputy.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, in which the deputy was injured and a search was launched. According to Indiana State Police, Schepers, a white male, is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He has distinctive tattoos on his neck and face, including a cross below his left eye.
Schepers was last seen Friday morning in West Baden driving a silver 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Indiana license plate CRT921. An unidentified person was reportedly accompanying him in the vehicle. Police have warned the public that shapers may be armed and dangerous.
Residents are urged not to approach the suspect and instead notify the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post at 812-332-4411 or call 911 immediately.
