MILWAUKEE, WI – Bitter cold and the possibility of snow will make this weekend challenging for Wisconsin residents. Temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits overnight, with lake effect snowfall expected by Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday will be dry but cool, with a high near 23°F and strong northwest winds that will make it feel even colder. Saturday is expected to be sunny but cold, with a high near 21°F and wind chills below zero in some areas.
The main weather concerns for the weekend begin Sunday night when the chance of snowfall increases, especially in southeastern Wisconsin. Lake-effect snow showers may develop along Lake Michigan, potentially impacting the morning commute on Monday. High temperatures are expected to reach only 28°F on Monday, with snowfall tapering off by the afternoon.
Residents planning to travel should be prepared for slick roads and low visibility Sunday night through Monday. Officials recommend stocking vehicles with emergency supplies and checking road conditions before heading out.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain below average through the next week, with highs in the mid 20s and lows in the teens. Those venturing out are advised to dress in layers and avoid the cold.
