PHILADELPHIA, PA – A winter weather advisory is in effect today as light snowfall continues across southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Delaware and southern New Jersey. Forecasters have warned of dangerous road conditions during the evening commute.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will be active from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Snowfall could reach up to two inches in some areas, with roads becoming slick early as temperatures drop below zero. There may be delays and reduced visibility on major roads including I-76 and I-95.
Residents should prepare for slower travel times and avoid unnecessary journeys this evening. Those out and about are advised to use caution, especially on untreated roads, sidewalks and driveways, where icy surfaces increase the risk of accidents.
Looking ahead, Saturday brings relief with sunny skies and a high of 33°F, although winds may gust up to 25 mph. Snow is expected to fall again Sunday night into Monday, with more accumulations predicted. Sunday will be mostly sunny during the day with a high near 34°F before becoming cloudy after sunset.
There is a possibility of heavy snowfall and cold conditions on Monday, which may cause difficulty in morning travel. The NWS forecasts an 80% chance of snow, with temperatures in the low 30s.
Travelers should check updates on weather.gov and plan accordingly. Winter safety kits including blankets, flashlights and ice scrapers are strongly recommended for drivers during this period.
