CLEVELAND, OH – Northeast Ohio residents are prepared for significant snowfall and hazardous travel as a lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday. Accumulations totaling 5 to 10 inches are expected in the most persistent snow bands, especially in Cuyahoga, Portage and Summit counties.
According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snowfall will begin Friday morning, with conditions worsening by Saturday afternoon. Winds gusting up to 31 mph could cause snow and reduced visibility, especially on Interstate 77 and Route 8. Authorities have urged drivers to use extreme caution or avoid traveling if possible.
Light to moderate snowfall is expected in northeastern Cuyahoga County late Friday night, with peak snowfall of 1 to 2 inches per hour expected early Saturday. The Ohio Department of Transportation advises motorists to carry an emergency kit including a flashlight, water and food due to potential delays and dangerous conditions.
Additional snowfall will occur Saturday before tapering off in the afternoon. Highs will reach 28°F with gusty winds. Sunday and Monday remained cold with prolonged snowfall and maximum temperatures hovering around 30.
Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on weather updates and check road conditions before going out. Be prepared for rapidly changing weather and difficult driving conditions throughout the weekend.
