Pangburn, AR – A 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck 11 kilometers east of Pangburn early Friday. The shock occurred at 6:15 am local time at a depth of 3 kilometers.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was centered near the Ozark Plateau, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Residents of nearby communities, including Pangburn and surrounding areas, may have felt mild shaking.
The earthquake is a small but notable occurrence in the seismically active New Madrid Seismic Zone, which has experienced occasional aftershocks in recent years. Local officials are urging residents to be aware of earthquake preparedness, even for small earthquakes like this one.
