LAS VEGAS, NV – Southern Nevada residents should prepare for high winds and falling temperatures this weekend as a cold front moves through the area. Winds are forecast to reach 40-50 mph in higher elevations today, with valley areas experiencing slightly lower speeds tonight.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Las Vegas, southwest winds will increase throughout the day Friday, giving way to northerly winds late Saturday night. The strongest winds will impact the Sierra and Mojave desert areas, while lighter winds will continue in the Colorado River Valley. Travelers on major routes including I-15 are urged to use caution, especially Saturday when windy conditions may impact visibility and vehicle stability.
Saturday in Las Vegas is expected to see a high of 62°F under mostly sunny skies, with north winds around 7 mph. Temperatures will cool down to 41°F at night. Temperatures will warm slightly to near 62°F on Sunday, but northerly winds will continue.
Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will be sunny but cool, with highs around 60. Tuesday’s forecast includes the return of strong northerly winds as another cold front moves into the area. Outdoor activities planned for early next week may need to be adjusted for safety.
