MELBOURNE, FL – Temperatures will drop rapidly across Central Florida this weekend as a strong cold front moves through the area. Residents along I-95 and surrounding areas can expect temperatures to feel like the mid 30s Saturday morning as a cooler breeze kicks in.
According to the National Weather Service, low temperatures will drop into the low 40s in Melbourne and neighboring cities from Friday night. The coldest winds are expected on Saturday and Sunday morning, with frost possible in inland areas. High temperatures during the day will remain below normal, with highs in the low to mid 60s.
Those planning outdoor activities should be prepared for strong northwest winds gusting up to 20 mph through Saturday. Beachgoers should also note the moderate risk of rip currents along the Atlantic coast, especially near Volusia and Brevard counties.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows a gradual warming trend. It will remain mostly sunny through Monday with highs in the low 70s. However, night temperatures will remain cool and drop into the low 40s by midweek.
Residents are encouraged to dress warmly, protect sensitive plants and monitor updates for any frost advisories. Drivers on I-95 should use caution in the early morning when wind chill is lowest.
