BIRMINGHAM, AL – Central Alabama residents should prepare for a cool evening as temperatures will drop into the low 30s Thursday night. Sunny skies will bring some relief on Friday, with highs reaching around 50, but rain is likely through Sunday.
Tonight’s cool, clear conditions will bring widespread cold across the region, with lows expected to reach 32°F in Birmingham, according to the National Weather Service. Residents are advised to bundle up and take precautions with pets and plants left outside.
Friday promises bright sunshine with light northwest winds, keeping daytime temperatures around 53°F. Temperatures will drop again Friday night with lows in the low 20s. As we head into the weekend, Saturday will be sunny but cool with a high near 47°F.
The chance of rain increases significantly on Sunday, with an 80% chance of rain during the day and evening. Winds will be a bit gusty and temperatures Sunday night will hover around 59°F and then climb into the upper 30s.
The first workweek of the year begins on Monday with mostly cloudy and cool conditions as the high temperature struggles to reach 41°F. Nighttime temperatures will drop further Monday night to around 25°F.
