St. Louis, MO – A powerful winter storm is forecast to hit parts of Missouri and Illinois this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Saturday evening through late Sunday night.
Affected areas could see total snowfall of 8 to 12 inches, according to the advisory, with snow accumulations of up to half an inch. Cities like Hannibal, Quincy and St. Louis are expected to see dangerous conditions that could make travel nearly impossible.
There is also a possibility of power outages and tree damage, especially in areas where snow accumulation is more likely. The storm is expected to cause traffic disruptions Monday morning, prompting residents to make preparations now.
The National Weather Service urges residents to keep an eye on updates and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Emergency supplies such as food, water, and flashlights are strongly recommended.
