Delaware Thunderstorm Warning in Effect for Dover, Surrounding Areas Until 8 PM

Dover, DE – A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Dover, Middletown, and Smyrna until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Residents are urged to take precautions immediately.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly reported winds up to 60 mph and hail the size of nickels could occur. Affected areas include Goldsboro, Church Hill, and Greensboro. The warning covers over 395,000 residents, with 119 schools and six hospitals potentially impacted.

According to the National Weather Service, strong winds may uproot trees and damage roofs, vehicles, and power lines. Heavy rainfall could cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents should secure outdoor items, avoid driving through flooded streets, and stay indoors. Keep flashlights and cellphones charged in case of power outages.

This storm is part of an active weather system moving through the Mid-Atlantic region. Authorities advise staying tuned to local weather updates and alerts.
