Cleveland, OH – Ohioans are preparing for a prolonged snowstorm expected to begin on New Year’s Eve and linger well into the first days of 2025. The storm will bring rain, snow, and gusty winds, creating hazardous travel conditions across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, rain will start Tuesday evening and transition to snow after midnight as temperatures drop to the low 30s. Snowfall will continue through New Year’s Day, with up to 3 inches of accumulation expected by Wednesday morning. Winds gusting up to 20 mph will reduce visibility, particularly on major roadways like I-71 and I-90.
Conditions will remain wintry into late week, with additional snow showers likely Thursday and Friday as highs hover around 30°F. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s, increasing the risk of icy roads.
Drivers should plan ahead, allowing extra travel time and using caution on slick surfaces. If possible, avoid unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.
The snowstorm marks a challenging start to 2025 for Ohioans, emphasizing the need for preparedness and vigilance as winter weather persists into the new year.
