Jackson, MS – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Monday, with low visibility creating hazardous driving conditions across the area.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, dense fog is expected to reduce visibility to less than a quarter mile, particularly along major highways like I-55 and US-49. Drivers are urged to use low-beam headlights and reduce speed during their morning commutes. The advisory covers central and southern Mississippi and parts of northeast Louisiana, with elevated risks in urban and rural areas alike.
Conditions are expected to improve gradually after 9 a.m., with sunny skies and a high of 69°F forecasted for Monday afternoon. Overnight lows will dip to 52°F under partly cloudy skies.
Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, promises clear skies with a high near 61°F and calm evening weather, making it ideal for celebrations. Winds may gust up to 15 mph in the afternoon but will calm after sunset. Looking ahead, New Year’s Day will be sunny and brisk, with highs near 55°F and lows dropping to 33°F overnight.
This week brings mostly clear conditions through Friday, with only a slight chance of showers on Thursday night. Temperatures will gradually rise, peaking at 57°F by Thursday afternoon.
