Cheyenne, WY – A winter storm warning is in effect for the Snowy and Sierra Madre Ranges from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 a.m. Sunday. Heavy snow and strong winds are expected, creating dangerous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts snowfall of 12 to 20 inches in the Sierra Madre Range and 12 to 24 inches in the Snowy Range. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph in the Snowy Range and up to 45 mph in the Sierra Madre Range, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of whiteout conditions.
According to the NWS, the warning covers areas including Centennial and Albany. Residents and travelers are urged to exercise caution and delay non-essential travel during the storm. Those venturing out should stay updated on road closures and forecasts.
The storm is expected to disrupt holiday travel and outdoor plans, with accumulations posing hazards for vehicles and powerlines.
