Charleston, WV – Residents in Charleston should prepare for a rainy weekend with a chance of severe storms Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) reports.

Rainfall will continue overnight before tapering off Saturday, offering a brief respite during the day. Another storm system is expected Saturday night, bringing 1 to 2 inches of rain through Monday morning. Some areas could see even higher totals.

According to the NWS Charleston office, there is a marginal risk for severe storms Sunday. The primary concerns are isolated damaging winds and localized flooding. Meteorologists urge residents to remain vigilant, especially in flood-prone areas.
