Spokane, WA – Rain and snow will dominate the weather pattern in Spokane starting Sunday, with fog creating additional hazards into Monday. Drivers and residents should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely after 4 a.m. Sunday, transitioning to snow in areas where temperatures drop. Snow levels will lower to around 3,200 feet, with accumulations of less than an inch expected by evening. Calm winds in the morning will give way to light southwest breezes later in the day, with highs reaching 39°F.
Sunday night brings the highest chance for precipitation, with rain and snow likely after 10 p.m. Snow levels could drop to 2,500 feet, posing a risk for slick roads, especially in areas along major routes like Interstate 90.
By Monday, patchy fog and lingering snow are possible before noon, gradually clearing by afternoon. Highs will reach 38°F, but roads may remain icy in the early hours. Monday night could see a slight chance of rain mixed with snow, with temperatures falling to 30°F.
Looking ahead to New Year’s week, Tuesday brings partly cloudy skies and patchy fog with highs near 36°F, while Tuesday night will see lows dropping to 29°F under mostly cloudy skies.
Residents should exercise caution while traveling and monitor updates from local authorities. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and allow extra travel time through Monday.
