Lake Station, IN – A 45-year-old Valparaiso woman was found deceased Thursday in Lake Station, with preliminary findings indicating hypothermia as the cause of death.
According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the woman, identified as Jamie Vlamos, was discovered at 2100 Clay St. Emergency responders certified her time of death at 12:28 p.m. The coroner’s investigation team ruled out foul play based on initial autopsy results conducted Friday at the Lake County Forensic Center in Crown Point.
Authorities noted that Vlamos sustained no visible trauma, though her manner of death remains under review pending further investigation. The Lake Station Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s CSI unit are assisting with the case.
Vlamos, a resident of the 300 block of Rivera Ct. in Valparaiso, was positively identified by family. Officials emphasized that no suspicious circumstances were identified at the scene.
Lake County officials urge residents to take precautions during extreme weather conditions, as hypothermia risks rise significantly in cold environments.
