Corpus Christi, TX – Drivers in South Texas should prepare for challenging travel conditions as a dense fog advisory remains in effect through 10 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service has warned that visibility will drop to less than a quarter mile in many areas, particularly along northern coastal highways and nearshore waters.
According to the National Weather Service, the fog is expected to persist overnight, especially in areas such as State Highway 361 and U.S. Highway 77. Motorists are advised to use low-beam headlights, slow down, and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Those planning marine activities are urged to exercise caution as visibility over water may fall below one mile.
By Saturday afternoon, the fog will dissipate, giving way to mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures. Highs are expected to reach near 80°F, with light winds shifting from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday night will be mostly clear with lows around 62°F and winds becoming northerly at 7 mph.
Looking ahead, Sunday will remain sunny with a high of 79°F, while overnight lows will hover around 60°F. The pleasant weather is expected to continue through New Year’s Eve, with sunny skies and highs in the low 70s forecast for Tuesday.
As holiday travel peaks, drivers and boaters should remain vigilant, especially during early morning hours when fog is densest. For updates, follow local weather alerts and check the latest road conditions before heading out.
Stay safe and plan accordingly for the post-Christmas travel weekend.
