Atlanta, GA – Heavy rain is expected across north and central Georgia this weekend, with totals reaching 2 inches in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree City predicts widespread showers, starting Friday and continuing through Monday morning.

According to the NWS, northern counties like Dalton, Blairsville, and Jasper have a 60-80% chance of receiving 2 inches or more. Central Georgia, including Atlanta and Carrollton, has slightly lower probabilities but remains under significant rainfall potential. Fortunately, recent dry conditions are expected to minimize flash flooding risks.

Residents should prepare for potential travel delays and monitor updated forecasts. While flooding risks are low, drivers should remain cautious on slick roads. Rain will taper off by early next week, offering a respite from the wet weather.

Stay tuned to local weather updates and have rain gear ready for the weekend.
