Nashville, TN – A wet weekend is in store for Middle Tennessee as multiple waves of rain are set to arrive Friday through Sunday. Travelers along I-40 should prepare for hazardous conditions, including potential flash flooding and gusty winds.
According to the National Weather Service, up to 3-4 inches of rain is expected in areas south of I-40, with the heaviest downpours likely on Saturday. Scattered showers will begin early Friday morning and intensify throughout the day. Thunderstorms are possible during the evening, though the risk of severe weather is currently low.
Drivers should exercise caution, especially in flood-prone areas. Rainfall totals in some spots could lead to localized flooding, particularly near small creeks and low-lying roadways. Winds may gust up to 30 mph during the storm’s peak, potentially causing issues for high-profile vehicles.
Friday’s high will reach near 60°F, followed by a mild but rainy night with temperatures dropping to 54°F. Saturday will bring widespread showers and a high of 67°F, while Sunday will see lingering rain before clearing into the evening. By Monday, conditions will improve with partly sunny skies and a high of 64°F.
Residents are urged to monitor local weather updates and avoid driving through flooded roads. Keep emergency kits handy, especially if traveling.
