East Texas, TX — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for East Texas, southern Arkansas, and northern Louisiana. The watch is effective until 7 p.m. Thursday as storms threaten the region.
According to the NWS Fort Worth office, the main hazards include large hail up to ping pong ball size, wind gusts up to 70 mph, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Cities under the watch include Tyler, Texarkana, Shreveport, and Mount Pleasant.
Residents are urged to monitor weather conditions closely and stay prepared for potential warnings. The storms could cause damage to vehicles, roofs, and trees, with high winds increasing power outage risks. The NWS advises staying indoors and securing outdoor objects.
Emergency responders remain on alert for severe conditions. Officials encourage residents to have a plan in place and follow updates from local meteorologists.
This developing storm system could bring more severe weather as it moves through the region. Updates will follow as the situation evolves.
