Detroit, MI – A mix of drizzle, fog, and freezing mist is expected to complicate travel across Southeast Michigan into the weekend, prompting drivers to use caution on slick roads. The National Weather Service has issued a forecast calling for light freezing drizzle Thursday morning and rain moving in Friday night.
According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, conditions could create hazardous driving on highways like I-75 and local streets. Drivers should remain alert, especially during early morning hours when patchy fog and icy surfaces are most likely. Rain is forecast to intensify Friday night into Saturday, with precipitation chances reaching 90%.
Temperatures will steadily rise heading into the weekend. Friday’s high is expected to reach 45°F, with Saturday bringing milder conditions near 54°F. Rain showers will persist through Saturday, potentially disrupting outdoor plans. By Sunday, cooler air will return, with highs dropping to the upper 40s and lingering rain showers.
The five-day outlook shows mostly cloudy skies on Monday and Tuesday, with more rain likely. Highs will range between 45°F and 48°F early next week, keeping conditions damp and mild.
Motorists are urged to plan accordingly, allow extra time for travel, and check road conditions before heading out. The National Weather Service recommends avoiding sudden stops and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles during slick conditions.
