Baltimore, MD – Maryland residents and holiday travelers should brace for a rainy weekend, as conditions along the I-95 corridor are expected to worsen starting Friday night. Meteorologists predict showers to intensify by Sunday, potentially disrupting post-holiday travel plans.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Friday will remain dry for most of the day, with highs near 46°F and partly sunny skies. Rain is likely to begin late Friday night and continue through Saturday morning, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Saturday’s high will hover around 50°F, accompanied by light winds and overcast skies.

Travelers are urged to exercise caution during peak rain hours, as roads could become slick, especially along heavily trafficked highways like I-95. “Plan your trips early and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall,” the NWS advised.

Sunday will see the heaviest rain, with an 80% chance of showers and temperatures climbing to 63°F. By Sunday evening, conditions may ease slightly but remain wet through Monday morning. For those staying local, the rain is expected to taper off by early Monday afternoon, with a mix of sun and clouds for New Year’s Eve.

For anyone planning outdoor activities or driving long distances, it’s essential to check updated forecasts and road conditions. Maryland’s Department of Transportation has advised drivers to ensure headlights and wipers are in good working condition.

Be sure to plan ahead for delays and pack essentials like an umbrella or waterproof jacket for any weekend outings.
