Pueblo, CO – Temperatures remain unseasonably warm across much of Colorado this Christmas Eve, with mostly sunny skies and dry conditions today. However, a winter system moving in midweek could bring light snow to higher elevations, including the Palmer Divide and Raton Mesa, starting Christmas Day. Lower elevations are likely to see rain or remain dry.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, Christmas Day will start cloudy, with highs near 51 degrees in Pueblo and surrounding areas. Light snow showers could develop Wednesday night into Thursday, especially in mountain regions like the San Juans, where up to 6 inches of accumulation is possible. Travelers should expect slick roads near higher altitudes and plan accordingly.
By Thursday, temperatures will dip slightly, with daytime highs near 52 degrees. Mountain snow is expected to continue intermittently through the week, with chances for a mix of rain and snow in valleys. Communities along the I-25 corridor, including Colorado Springs and Pueblo, should prepare for patchy slick spots on roads as temperatures drop overnight into the upper 20s.
Heading into the weekend, skies will clear, with highs nearing 56 degrees by Saturday. Sunny conditions are forecast to persist, offering a reprieve from midweek precipitation. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the NWS for potential changes to the forecast and prepare for cooler nights as winds increase in some areas.
