Binghamton, NY – Snowfall that began overnight has subsided, leaving a mix of patchy freezing drizzle and clear skies across Central New York. As residents prepare for Christmas Day, weather conditions are expected to remain calm, making travel safer for holiday plans.

According to the National Weather Service, lingering light snow showers may briefly impact the region today, mainly between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. However, the chance of precipitation remains low at 20%. Temperatures will climb to a high near 36°F today before dropping to a chilly 21°F overnight.

Christmas Day offers a brighter outlook, with partly sunny skies and a high near 30°F, perfect for festive gatherings or outdoor activities. Calm winds and clear conditions will continue into the evening, with nighttime lows around 19°F.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast indicates a trend of dry and mostly sunny weather. Thursday and Friday will bring highs of 33°F and 38°F, respectively, with mostly clear skies. Saturday and Sunday show slight chances of rain, with temperatures climbing to the mid-40s, offering relief from colder conditions earlier this week.

Drivers are urged to remain cautious today, particularly on untreated roads where patchy ice may linger. Local travelers can visit weather.gov/bgm for location-specific updates and live radar data.

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday season with favorable weather conditions across Binghamton and beyond.
