According to News 8 Channel, many people in Hillsborough County are worried about postcards they got offering a $100 tax refund. The postcards ask people to apply for a tax refund, but some residents, like Pam and Don Davis, think the offer looks suspicious. They were especially concerned because the form asked for personal details like birthdates, which they think is not needed for a tax refund.
Hillsborough County officials said they didn’t know about the postcards before they were sent out. The Florida State Department of Revenue said they didn’t send the postcards either. Instead, a court-appointed administrator sent them. The Department of Revenue plans to give more information about this in November.
