Chief Patrol Agent Raises Concerns for Border Patrol Agents and Migrants Amid Harsh Weather
According to American Military News, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) utilized flights by World Atlantic Airlines to transport illegal immigrants from the Canadian border to the southern border. These flights arranged under the Title 42 policy reportedly cost between $150,000 to $200,000 each and transported Mexican nationals who had entered the U.S. illegally from Canada after flying from Mexico. The surge in migrants at the northern border has been highlighted with over 68,000 crossings recorded between October 2022 and February 2023, raising concerns over border security and the safety of migrants especially in harsh winter conditions.
The Swanton Sector is responsible for patrolling the northern border was reported record numbers of apprehensions and encounters with 367 in January and 418 in February. Chief Patrol Agent Robert N. Garcia expressed growing concern for the welfare of both Border Patrol agents and migrants stressing the dangers of illegal crossings particularly in adverse weather conditions. The statistics underscore the broader issue of high levels of illegal migrant crossings across both the northern and southern borders prompting criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of border security and calls for stricter measures to defend the homeland.

He said the increasing numbers of migrants are because of wrong policies. People worry about national security risks and how the government manages borders. The report shows the ongoing struggles authorities face in handling illegal immigration. It emphasizes the need for better plans to deal with border security problems.
