Families in Vermont and several other states can expect a new child tax credit before tax season.
Vermont Offers $1,000 Tax Credits for Parents with Children Under Six – Income Thresholds Apply
In Vermont, taxpayers can receive credits worth $1,000 per child under six years old.
The credit amount decreases for parents earning over $125,000, with a reduction of $20 for every $1,000 made over the threshold.
Those earning above $175,000 are not eligible for the credit.

Income Returns for Part-Year Vermont Residents and Expanded Child Tax Credits in Multiple States
Residents who live in Vermont for part of the year can receive a return on income earned within the state, even without a Social Security number.
Additionally, child tax credits are available in California, Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Utah.
