After visiting Nevada, President Joe Biden is on his way to Los Angeles.
Planning for Infrastructure High-Speed Light Rail
The president will deliver remarks in Las Vegas on December 8 before departing for a campaign reception in Los Angeles with First Lady Jill Biden. The Biden administration pledged $3 billion on Tuesday to help start laying track for a planned high-speed rail connection between Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area, Nevada elected leaders said. “We’re ready to get to work,” Wes Edens, founder and chairman of Brightline in Florida, said in a statement ahead of a Friday event in Las Vegas that might overlap with President Joe Biden’s arrival.
Rosen and U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, both Democrats, led a bipartisan group in April that urged Biden to commit up to $3.75 billion in federal infrastructure funds toward what they call a public-private partnership. Trains traveling at nearly 200 mph could shorten a four-hour road trip from a station in Las Vegas to a suburban Los Angeles light rail line in the San Bernardino County city of Rancho Cucamonga in half, according to planners.
