Toronto ranked top pet-friendly city in Canada

Toronto ranked top pet-friendly city in Canada,

Vancouver just behind in third place

As competitive (and different) as Vancouver and Toronto are, both cities truly love their dogs.
My Baggage, a company that helps people make the move to other countries, recently put out a review of the most pet-friendly cities in Canada, ranking Toronto first and Vancouver third.
Not exactly a scientific study per se… the investigation tallied up such things as the number of vets, pet-friendly stores, hotels, and restaurants. As none of the findings were per capita, it’s natural that the biggest cities would rise to the top. But it’s still good to know we’re all doing our dogdie due diligence!

Deciding factors included number of vets, pet stores, and pet-friendly hotels

Toronto, a city of 2.8 million people and over 230,000 dogs, ranked the highest in every category except the highest number of pet-friendly hotels. That honour went to Montreal, which placed second in the study overall.
Internationally, the review cited centers in both the U.S. and Italy as the highest ranking pet-friendly cities in the world. Los Angeles came out on top, being dubbed “the city of animals” (it is a dog-eat-dog kind of place, after all). Milan, New York, Rome, and Florence followed.

Canada is one of the higher-priced countries to raise a dog.

The average annual cost of owning a pup here is $2,607.00 which consists mostly of food.
This year, PawSwap is honoured to branch into Toronto to embrace its canine culture and keep pet-parents up to date of every dog-friendly location and event in the megacity. Hotels like the Sheraton and The Omni, as well as restaurants like Hair of the Dog and Barque Smokehouse are already welcoming to dogs, and PawSwap is excited to celebrate hundreds more.
