Many others in China have lost lawsuits against Tesla.
Many people looking for all-electric cars decide to go with Tesla vehicles. However, these people don’t assume they could be on the losing end of a lawsuit with the automaker. This happened to one woman in China after she sued, lost, and now has to pay more than $20k to Tesla.
Tesla makes some of the best all-electric vehicles, but it’s not exempt from accidents
According to TechCrunch, a woman named Zhang Yazhou was a passenger in a Tesla Model 3 in February of 2021. Of course, this is one of the most popular Tesla vehicles. Sadly, she and the other people in the vehicle were in an accident that is said to have stemmed from faulty brakes. Following the accident, her parents were in the hospital for four days, which isn’t only frightening, it’s also expensive.
As many drivers would, the woman made no secret of how she felt about Tesla and its vehicles following the accident. She also sued the all-electric car maker for defamation. However, Tesla later countersued her for the same thing. The latest is that she not only lost, but Tesla won its countersuit, meaning she owes the company $23k. That’s not all. She also has to issue a public apology for her comments about the brakes on the Tesla Model 3. She is appealing the court’s decision, but data from the car shows that the brakes functioned properly.
It’s also important to note that Tesla has sued other people in China who complained about its vehicles. This includes bloggers and social media personalities. Additionally, there have been 81 civil lawsuits against the company stemming from China and only nine owners won. Sadly, most people think she shouldn’t count on the appeal process to go her way.
