Driver recently crashed a car during a test drive and left the dealership $1k poorer

Someone looking for the best cars to buy recently crashed while on a test drive and had to pay for the damage.

You are on the hook for damages caused during a test drive.

Many people are looking for the best new or used cars to buy. For most, taking the vehicle for a test drive is an integral part of the buying process as it helps determine if the car is the right fit. Car showrooms welcome this, but a salesman recently shared what happened when something got into a car wreck while testing an SUV. In a nutshell, this racked up an expensive bill with auto mechanics.

People looking for the best cars and SUVs to buy should do a test drive, but they should be careful

Many people test-drive vehicles before deciding which is the best for them. For some, this process can be rather lengthy as they sift through the best cars to buy. However, most don’t consider what happens if you wreck a vehicle while testing it. Recently, a salesperson named Tyler Weaver shared a story about when this happened on TikTok. He starts by saying his dealership encourages potential buyers to go along on the test drives with salespeople. However, that didn’t happen in this case.

The salesperson went on to say that this customer had decided to test a 2019 Kia Forte. He says that the car had considerably low mileage despite it being a preowned vehicle. However, the customer wanted to take it home to ensure it would fit into her garage. She didn’t live far away, and they allowed her to take the Kia home. It’s not uncommon for people looking for the best cars to buy to want to take them home first.

The story continues, and the TikToker says she came back and showed him that she had wrecked the car. He says, “The whole backend was scrapped to pieces.” Apparently, she had hit the vehicle on her fence when she was home. He then says the auto mechanics at the dealership said it had about $1,000 worth of damage. She didn’t put up a fight when it came to paying for the damage. In the end, she did not buy the car. She later purchased a Fiat, which she also damaged. Still, people shouldn’t be apprehensive about test driving at car showrooms.
