Bowser‘s Tax Adjustments and Shift in Focus for Washington‘s Budget Allocation -Balancing Priorities and Budget Crisis

To get more money Bowser wants to slowly raise the sales tax and make businesses pay more taxes. She hopes these changes will help fix the budget crisis. Bowser also talked about wanting to invest smarter so they could undo some of the tough choices they’re making now. But this year’s plan is different because they’re not putting as much money into affordable housing as they used to. Instead they’re focusing more on keeping the city safe and making downtown look nicer. While they talked about the budget crisis they also approved spending $500 million to fix up the Capital One Arena. This isn’t coming from the money they use for day-to-day stuff. It shows they’re trying different ways to make the city better even if it means making some tough decisions. The budget crisis talks will keep going and it’s clear there’s a lot of work to do to make sure the city’s money is used in the best way possible.
