Legislators in Illinois are debating Senate Bill 3462, which proposes providing certain residents of the state with recurring tax revenue. The bill, put out by Senator Ram Villivalam, seeks to establish a committee to determine if this idea is feasible. Initially, the measure offered a $1,000 monthly payment to anyone who are studying, have a child, or just had a baby. However, they are currently unsure of the exact amount and mode of operation.

Direct Money Distribution: Boosting Local Economies and Families, or Raising Concerns over Cost and Consequences?

Some find it appealing to give money to individuals directly. They claim that it benefits local businesses and families. Still others fear it will be overpriced and could lead to issues. Without knowing the cost, McHenry County employee Mike Buehler believes it’s not a good idea. Furthermore, he fears that it may prevent people from working. As of right now, a committee is still debating the bill and has not made a decision.
