New Hampshire Free Job Training Initiative: SNAP to Success!
New Hampshire Free Job Training Approach to Assist SNAP Beneficiaries in Career Growth
According to publish article of NHPR, New Hampshire is helping people who get SNAP benefits (money for food) by offering free job training. This started a year ago and is a team effort between the Department of Health and Human Services, Manchester Community College, and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. People in the SNAP program can take classes at the community college without paying tuition. The state is also giving them career counselors to help with things like making a resume.
New Hampshire’s Path to Professional Growth: Launching Careers!
The goal is to help people start careers in healthcare and other areas giving them a chance to move up in life. The program is supported by the federal government and the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation which is helping with money too. Around 15 people have already finished job training, focusing on healthcare, technology, and cybersecurity. More people are working with career counselors and the program plans to grow over time offering courses for jobs like phlebotomists and pharmacy technicians starting in April. It’s open to people 18 and older who get SNAP benefits and don’t get money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.
