Lawmakers Lead Effort to Reform Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program

Local state Representative Bud Cook alongside fellow lawmakers Rob Mercuri and Jack Rader is heading a legislative effort aimed to simplify tax breaks for homeowners. The package of bills they are introducing follows a recent law that expanded income eligibility limits and raised maximum rebates for seniors and individuals with disabilities statewide. Cook representing West Pike Run Township, Mercuri from Pine Township and Rader hailing from Reeders have jointly sponsored these bills to further improve the accessibility and efficiency of the program.

The Property Rebate Program is vital for many Pennsylvanians providing financial relief for property taxes or rent paid by eligible individuals. The proposed reforms seek to provide the application process and ensure that those in need can access the benefits more easily. With the expanded income eligibility and increased rebates made last year.
