White House Warns of Potential ICE Cutbacks Amid Border Bill Disagreement

Republican lawmakers are criticizing President Joe Biden and his team after the White House said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) might do fewer operations to remove illegal immigrants if Congress does not pass a border bill. The White House said ICE might need to cut back because of not having enough money soon. They blamed Republicans for not agreeing on a security deal saying it could hurt national security and safety.

Republicans Worry About Border Bill Money and Accuse White House of Playing Politics

The proposed Senate bill has a lot of money  including $20 billion for the border. But Republicans worry it could make the border situation worse. They think it’s just a way to make Biden look good before the next election. Some lawmakers like Rep. Austin Pfluger and Sen. Mike Lee said the White House is threatening Americans. They think Biden should do more to stop illegal immigration instead of playing politics.
