Tragic Collision: Michigan Parents of 6 Killed in Head-on Crash Amid Suspect’s Police Chase

A Michigan suspect fleeing police in a stolen pickup truck killed parents-of-six Ryan and Jen Ambrosio, 45, and 43, in a head-on collision. The crash killed the date-night couple heading home. Two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree running and eluding police causing death, careless driving, and driving with a suspended license are against Romulus, Michigan resident Angel Melendez-Ortiz.

In a stolen car, Melendez-Ortiz, 35, led police on a high-speed chase, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. January 6 saw a Pontiac, Michigan, interstate pursuit that reached 100 mph with headlights off. At 1:30 a.m., Melendez-Ortiz hit the Ambrosios’ SUV, ending the chase.

They left six children aged 2–9 after Ryan and Jen Ambrosio died instantly. He pleaded not guilty and was given a $1.5 million bond. Community support for the Ambrosio family has poured in after the tragedy.

Currently, a GoFundMe effort for the bereaved family has raised almost $600,000. The campaign says their neighborhood, friends, church, and family love the Ambrosios. Families and communities are still grieving the loss.
