Sheriff Grismore of Vermont is being investigated for impeachment, and he is expected to testify before a legislative committee.
According to FOX News report, The Vermont Criminal Justice Council decided to permanently remove Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore from his job as a police officer. In reaction, the Vermont Sheriff’s Association strongly advised Grismore to resign from his post right away. Grismore broke the state’s rules about the use of force when he kicked a prisoner who was shackled. As a result, he lost his license as a police officer. The group also set up a news conference at the same time that a special government committee began looking into the possibility of impeaching Grismore. This is because Grismore has refused to follow the rules, even though he is being charged, and has pleaded not guilty.

This has caused a need for new leadership. Even though he plans to fight the decision, the organization says that his ongoing defense shows he doesn’t feel sorry for what he did and stops any corrective action from being taken. After being fired in August 2022, Grismore ran for office again in November 2022 and won. He will still be sheriff, but he won’t be able to enforce traffic rules. At the same time, the state police are looking into both his money and the department’s money.
