Assaults Committed Against Jews:
The attack happened in Beverly Hills, California, and Silagi hit the couple. It was upsetting, and Raphy and Rebecca were determined to stand strong in their faith, even though anti-Semitism is becoming more common in the US.
Raphy talked about his strong feelings and said that he was angry not only because he was hurt but also because he was being attacked because he was Jewish. Raphy talked about how shocked she was at first, and Rebecca talked about how the attacker was mean and used racial slurs during the attack.
Despite sustaining injuries, Raphy courageously pursued Silagi as he fled, highlighting his resilience and commitment to his faith, as observed by Rabbi Pini Dunner.

Legal Actions and Community Reaction
Along with assault, attempted robbery, elder abuse, and a hate crime “enhancement,” Silagi was charged with serious crimes. This shows the gravity of the situation and community response. Beverly Hills police chief Mark Stainbrook said he would not tolerate hate crimes.
Silagi’s 2012 second-degree robbery conviction makes the current charges more serious. He is in custody on $100,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
