Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch asked the Supreme Court to set execution dates for two men who were on death row.
Missipi Attorney General Asks Supreme Court to Set Execution Dates of Two Murderers
According to FOX, the Mississippi attorney general’s office has filed motions that asked the high court to schedule the date for the executions of Wille Jerome Manning and Robert Simon Jr.
Mississippi attorney general’s office also filed a separate motion calling for the high court to set the execution dates within 30 days. In the motion, it stated that there is no legal impediment exists since the two murderers have exhausted all state and federal remedies.
Manning was convicted in 1994 on two counts of capital murder in the December 1992 killings of Mississippi State University students. Simon was convicted in the 1990 Quitman County slaying of a family of four.

Murderers Might be Innocent, Prisoner’s Attorney Say
According to WAPT, Manning’s defense team petitioned in September for post-conviction relief based on the newly discovered evidence they had acquired. However, the high court has not responded to the petition or considered the evidence.
Krissy Nobile, Manning’s attorney, stated that Manning may be innocent as the State is steamrolling toward execution even though there is compelling evidence. Meanwhile, Simon was just hours away from execution when the federal court ordered a stay to ruling on a mental disability claim. Later on, the claim was rejected.
